Bio:

Born into the life of a simple manufactorum worker on one of the many Adeptus Mechanicus worlds, Phylo Artifii lived an endlessly monotonous life consisting of the dim, neon glow of the overcrowded hab blocks and the grime of the innumerable factories.

This all changed when a surprise inspection of the living quarters revealed a large cache of forbidden documents. Ancient STC data-pads, engineering blue prints, and techno-arcane tomes of mechanical lore were found in large quantities in his cramped room. Such documents guaranteed a swift end to the pitifully tedious existence – one which Phylo almost welcomed.

Instead, Phylo was sentenced to the dust laden hell-world of Draconis 23, a world orbiting a distant pulsar who’s dim light bathed the planet in high radiation. A world, some say, that was chosen less for it’s precious focus-crystals used in the production of las-weaponry and more for it’s symbolic reference of falling from the divine emperors grace, damnation, and the chance of redemption through suffering, sacrifice, and ultimately death!
Indeed, very few sentenced to the craggy, barren mines survived their time on Draconis 23 instead succumbing to it’s harsh, unforgiving conditions, the ruthless Commissar-Wardens, or the violent psycho-gangs of convicts.
Even for the innocent support staff of the penal colony their stay on Draconis 23 was little more than a slow, miserable death sentence. Life in the colony was harsh. It was perhaps even more cruel than any bolt round to the head would have ever been.

Upon arrival to the penal colony his knack with machinery and training in the use of vehicles like the heavy loader sentinels, as well as an understanding of machine spirits earmarked him for the vast motor-pools and and mechano-repair halls. Here he honed his skills of piloting all of the colony vehicles and repair techniques. In a strange way it was almost a blessing.
Finally, in the great radiation shielded repair bays he could further his understanding of the machine spirit without the ever-suspicious eye of the Tech-Priests of Mars. It was almost a shame that the lifespan of the average “colonist” measures only eight years.

In the three and a half years Phylo has spent in the colony he has never wavered in his declarations of innocence. Instead, he swears that jealous, semi-mindless servitors from his manufactorum set him up and planted the illicit tomes in his hab-quarters.

Highly paranoid and gifted with what he calls “the knack”, a talent for the machine spirit, Phylo’s unique abilities serve him in his role as the units driver, engineer, and Sentinel scout for Tango squad, A position he’s held since its formation. Obsessive in his observances of the various litanies of function, repair, and maintenance it’s not surprising that Tango squad rarely has a malfunction with their equipment. In an unofficial capacity he acts as Tango’s armourer and his skills have been employed by people across the regiment. The unusual lack of techno-mechanical problems often raises the suspicions of the tech priests, figures that Phylo dislikes and distrusts.
